THE VETERINARY SURGEON

Albert Iversen

1895 – 1944

Albert Iversen graduated from Randers Statsskole in 1914. He qualified as a vet in 1922, and started practising in Spentrup, near Hvidsten, in 1924. He married Augusta Jacobsen on 12 August 1927, and they had three daughters: Ulla, Tove and Helle.

Albert was part of the Hvidsten Group right from the start in March 1943. He was a big asset for the group, as his profession as a vet meant that he could move around relatively freely at night in his car. Being able to take the parachutists received by the group to a safe place was imperative.

When the Gestapo struck on 11 March 1944, Iversen was one of the first to be arrested. He was sentenced to death by a military tribunal on 26 June 1944.
