THE MECHANIC
Johan Kjær Hansen
1907 – 1944
Johan Kjær Hansen married Rigmor Marie Andersen from Randers on 11 March 1934. They had three sons: Henning, Mogens and Jørgen. The family made its living from Johan's workshop in Hvidsten.
Johan took part in the activities of the group receiving parachutists, weapons and explosives at Mustard Point. He also helped get refugees and people wanted by the Germans out of the country. When drops were suspended due to German interest in the area around Mustard Point in the autumn of 1943, Johan and his friend and co-member of the group, Niels Fiil, went to Aalborg to learn how to make hand grenades.
He was arrested by the Gestapo on 17 March 1944, when they made mass arrests one week after their initial visit to Hvidsten. He was sentenced to death by a military tribunal on 26 June 1944.
